Vitiligo: its Causes and Natural Remedies

Vitiligo, also known as leukoderma, is a degenerative disease of the skin, where melanocytes, pigment cells responsible for skin, they die, leaving to produce melanin (a substance that discolors the skin) in the area where death occurred cell.

How does it manifest?

The skin takes on a look with light spots (where there is no production of melanin) that contrast with the original color of the skin. These spots are usually more circular areas with defined edges and a variable length, which, to leave together, can be taken indefinitely. Usually seen more frequently in the extremities (hands and feet), and the areas of extension and flexion as elbows and knees. In some cases, on the face and genitals.

Disease characteristics

Vitiligo is not contagious and, while not a serious disease, if unleashed in a conflict who suffers PicoLog the unsightly character that takes the skin, especially in people with dark skin. It affects men and women’s webcam. The hairs that cover the affected areas are albino (white).

Why the difference?

Science, as in many other diseases, unknown what causes leukoderma, however, has found some relationships that could provoke such as:

• immunological disorders: is caused by immunological disorders, where due to some disorder in the defenses, the body creates antibodies against melanin-producing cells.
• Hereditary causes: it is believed that could be inherited, although it is highly unlikely because very few patients have family history in a similar case.
• autonomic: it is believed that certain substances used by the brain to exchange information (neurotransmitters) alter the production of melanin producing cells. Read the rest of this entry »
